June 22, 2023 – With the recent settlement in the City of Rome’s water pollution lawsuit, the city’s water department will be able to roll back rates to December 2018 rates. The rollback will be effective Sept. 1. Brinson Askew Berry represents the city.
The City of Rome filed the lawsuit in 2019 seeking reimbursement of millions of dollars to clean up toxic chemicals that were manufactured and released by several entities as part of their business operations. The discharges took place upstream from Rome’s water intake on the Oostanaula River. The case was settled in late May.
